A message from our Club President

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well as this pandemic runs its course. As I’m sure you are all aware, the state is beginning to slowly ease quarantine restrictions as long as we are all practicing social distancing guidelines. What does this mean for members of the Lighthouse Camera Club? Well, we are allowed to walk on the beach again to take those beautiful sunrise photos and many state parks and wildlife areas are beginning to open so we can get out if we feel comfortable to do so (and don’t forget to send Jeff some images) My husband and I went out in the boat this past weekend (all by ourselves) and between the sunshine, perfect temperature, and the wind in our hair- it felt like heaven!

We will continue to monitor openings, but as we mentioned last month, we will definitely not be having a meeting in May. It is highly unlikely we will meet in June, but we will see where we are at the end of the month and let you know about July. The safety of each and every one of you is of the upmost importance- we will not risk your health by meeting before it is safe to do so.

I hope you all have taken the time to watch some tutorials and practiced editing older images. If you follow our Facebook page, you would see that Steve and Bill sure have and have been sharing pretty regularly. Bill Prim and Louis Mark have also been sharing lots of great images!

I wish I had a crystal ball and could tell you when this will behind us, but unfortunately we are reading the websites just like you and waiting for the governor to give us the all clear.

We really do miss you and can’t wait until we can all meet again!

March Class Cancelled

Hi All:

As we read every day, this is the time to be safe and cautious.

Therefore the Board has suspended this month’s Board Meeting on Wednesday as well as the Class on the 25^th.

We do this in the hope you all stay safe and healthy!

We will advise the Club as to the April Meeting in a couple of weeks.

Go into nature and photograph……….the animals and plants are not carriers!

The monthly theme for March is Pet Photography; so, send me up to six (6) great images. They must be emailed to jefforns@comcast.net as ATTACHMENTS, at 72dpi, with the long side at 1200 pixels. Jeff must have your images by SUNDAY, March 8!

Our class topic for Wed February 26 will be Masking and the use of Layers in ON1 Photo 2020

Once you understand the power of Masks and Layers it will open up a whole new world of creative freedom.

Please note: Though Steve will be demonstrating this using ON 1, the theory and application applies to all photo post-processing software that supports Layered editing.

If you have a laptop bring it to class.

* * * * * * *ANNUAL CLUB PICNIC * * * * * * *

The annual Club Picnic will be at Jonathon Dickenson State Park Wilson Picnic Pavilion on Saturday, February 8 at noon though you should get there earlier so we can go on a photowalk.

We all have had a great time at the past picnics. Lots to eat and lots to photograph. As always the club will supply the hot dogs, hamburgers and buns and we ask every member to bring a dish to share, appetizers, sides or desserts. Some members even bring surprises (like alligator sausages). Please send me a list of what you are bringing. All MEMBERS must have their dues paid and bring a dish to share! Please let jefforns@comcast.net know ASAP how many are coming as we need an accurate count to order the goodies.
