Printing and Framing Images- Material Sources

In my previous post – Upcoming Exhibits I talked about how important bringing your images in for critique is.

Now I will talk about sources for printing and framing your wonderful image for exhibition.

Getting your images printed:

A few months back we toured West Side Reprographics they can print on all surfaces and have great rates. The tour of the facility was informative and the finished product they put out is topnotch.

FYI they also give Lighthouse Camera Club Members a discount so don’t forget to mention you are a member when sending your files for print services.

Also– remember all exhibits we participate in require a wire for hanging the piece. So, if you have your photo printed on Metal or Lexan make sure you have them setup the mount so it can have a wire attached for hanging.

Frames and Mats:

I order all my frames and mats from Jerry’s Artarama. They have excellent customer service and ordering is easy. They have all sizes and once you pick a frame the mats are easy to choose by following the frame size.

Here are the links:

Ambiance Gallery Wood Frames note these have 1/16″ Acrylic glazing

Pyramid Pre-Cut Mat Packs with Crystal Seal Bags

Please keep in mind that the frames can be ordered in bulk which saves money over buying one at a time and pre-cut mats come in Packs of 10. So, you may what to get together with other club members and split the cost.

If you only need one frame you can also try Frames By Mail which was a suggestion by David Scholl one of our members.

If you have comments or suggestions post them in the comments section or e-mail them to lighthousecameraclub@gmail.com

Upcoming Exhibits

Currently we have two upcoming exhibits and I strongly encourage you all to show your work.

Why?

Because your work should be shared and showed if you desire to do so.

The upcoming exhibits at the Town of Jupiter and Palm Beach State College Eissey Theater are a great opportunity. The best part of participating in exhibits such as these is the experience of displaying your work.

I know, you may say to yourself “but my photos are not good enough”.

How do you know that?

Have you submitted images to Jeff or brought in a print for critique at one of our club meetings?

If the answer is NO then you really do not know. My point here, it is very important as a photographer to have your work critiqued.

The benefits critique process:

  • Gives you insight into something you may have overlooked in your photo.
  • Is a learning experience and will help you grow as an artist and photographer.
  • The constructive feedback will help improve your images.
  • Bottom line it is a fun learning experience.

In my next post I will talk about where you can get your photos printed and a great place to order basic frames and mats.

Please feel free to leave questions or comments here on the site or e-mail them to lighthousecameraclub@gmail.com
